The Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina assessed on July 31 that the regime of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic was oppressing the Bosniacs in Sandzak.

The party stated that “attacks against the students in Novi Pazar and citizens of this city show that the regime of Aleksandar Vucic had not moved away from the 1990s, when Slobodan Milosevic used oppressive methods to suppress the political democratic struggle of the Bosniacs in Sandzak.”

“The epilogue of such activities of the Milosevic regime were dozens of unjust arrests, prosecuted and harassed Bosniacs, some of whom have, unfortunately, died from the consequences of such treatment,” the party declared in the statement, as conveyed by the media in Sarajevo. The party further said that “nowadays Aleksandar Vucic is attempting to submit the Bosniacs to himself, in which some people, unfortunately, help him with their servile policy,” and added that “the committed youth of Novi Pazar and all free citizens sent the message that they were prepared to defend the freedom, justice and democracy, which they are known for.”

The party’s announcement further reads that Sarajevo should dedicate more attention to Novi Pazar and Sandzak in the forthcoming period, adding that “the time has come for some negative practices from the past to be overcome and for continuous cooperation and mutual support to be established in the struggle against the devastating heritage of the 1990s, perpetuated by the Vucic regime.”
