Mihailo Brkic, vice president of the SRCE Serbia Center party and a former ambassador, has said that, if Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik were to abscond to Serbia, it would mean one more burden on the Serbian Progressive Party, which is already riddled with scandals.

According to him, international pressure on the Progressive regime, primarily from the European Union, would intensify if Dodik were really to seek refuge in Serbia. He also believes that the pressure would not be the only problem, as Hungary has already negatively assessed and dismissed the verdict against Dodik, and the government in Serbia is increasingly less interested in the EU's opinions as the outlook of EU integration grows further away.

"Ultimately, the denouement of [Dodik's] political destiny must unfold in [Republika Srpska] and [Bosnia and Herzegovina], and it seems that he has other destinations apart from Serbia in case of withdrawal from authority," Brkic said.
