New Face of Serbia party president Milos Parandilovic said on Aug. 13 that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic knew he would lose the next election and that he could only defend his power with force.

"The brutal attack of Progressives on citizens protesting peacefully in Vrbas and Backi Petrovac is proof that the Progressives are willing to do anything to protect their power, even at the price of more lives," Parandilovic said, adding that this attempt to intimidate the people would not succeed and that Serbia was now unstoppably on the path to change, which Vucic could not prevent "even if he puts tanks on the streets and tries to provoke civil war."

"The most shameful thing in all this is that the police did not respond to the attacks, not even when its own officers were attacked by the Progressive thugs. The police, like everything else in Serbia, has been thrown under the feet of the Progressives and serves the interests of the Serbian Progressive Party only," Parandilovic said.
