Former Serbian ambassador Srecko Djukic stated on Aug. 14 that the international community was closely monitoring the events in Serbia and was already preparing a shelter for Aleksandar Vucic.

Djukic told BETA that the international community did not wish to save Vucic’s regime, “whom his own nation has drawn the curtain on.” “The most significant factors of the international community, in the West and East alike, very thoroughly monitor, analyze and know the outcome of the crisis that is culminating in Serbia. The truth is that the international community does not issue announcements every day, but this does not mean it would not react in case of a fundamental undermining of the internal order and peace,” he assessed.

“The authorities claim that they still have the whole situation under control and that is why the international community is letting the regime try to bring the situation to some sort of accord within Serbia and overcome the crisis peacefully,” Djukic said, adding that one of the solutions would be the earliest possible scheduling of elections, which is also the most probable one.

The international community also does not exclude a third possibility – the “abdication of the uncrowned Serbian king (Aleksandar Vucic) and his cronies (and their transfer) into some shelter in Siberia or some exotic destination in Asia or Africa,” said the former diplomat, adding that no one should doubt that the international community thoroughly understands the anatomy of the crisis in Serbia and its outcomes.
