A member of the Socialist Party of Serbia leadership, Goran Trivan, said on Aug. 15 that the party would try to be a factor that would bring "the warring sides in society" to the table.

He told Nova TV that the Socialist party must reform its program and focus on the people it represented. "(Party leader) Ivica (Dacic), who is at the helm of the most delicate ministry at this moment in the state, is under pressure from all sides and I am not sure he would be against" an election now, said Trivan.

He also said that all actors were responsible for the incidents and demonstrations that had happened over the past few days and that elections were a way out of the crisis.

"There is no dilemma that the authorities can crucially influence both the escalation and the calming of the situation and that is why the police are in the spotlight and always will be in those situations, it is important that they maintain a professional attitude, obviously there are deviations," said Trivan.
