RTS Blockade, April 22 2025 (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
The Serbian Broadcasting Corporation's director of television production, Biljana Carevic, has been relieved of duty and replaced by Dragica Barovic, executive director of news programming executive production, the Association of Journalists of Serbia reported on Aug. 25.
The Association said that its information was that Carevic was removed after she was "reproached for allowing production employees to choose whether they wanted to enter the [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation] building through hidden or side entrances or not during the blockade of the public service broadcaster."
"Officially, the reason for her removal is that she 'did not make adequate use of [Serbian Broadcasting Corporation] production resources,'" the statement read. The Association of Journalists of Serbia went on to note that Carevic had worked at the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation for over 30 years.
The Association of Journalists of Serbia also reported that Barovic, the new director of production, "had participated in the realization of the program" of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation during the student protest blockade of the public service broadcaster.
