President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Sept. 3 that he had used his presence at the military parade in Beijing, marking 80 years since the end of World War II, to see what should be procured for the Army of Serbia to make it a deterrent against all possible aggression from the neighborhood.

“It was not by chance that Pristina, Zagreb and Tirana formed a military alliance. They did not form it because of Austria, Hungary or Slovenia, but because of Serbia… They formed it against Serbia. Why do you expect us to play dumber than we are? We are not imbeciles to not understand why you did it,” Vucic said in a statement to reporters in Beijing.

He said that Serbia would not attack anyone and that it was only strengthening its military to preserve its territorial integrity. “We will hold a military parade on Sept. 20 and you will see many new things, you will be surprised. They tried to destroy the Army of Serbia and almost succeeded, and we have now raised it from the ashes and it is now a deterrent to any aggressor,” he said.

Commenting on China’s military parade and the possible procurement of weapons from this country, Vucic said that Serbia was not interested in Chinese ballistic and hypersonic missiles, but that China possessed superb multi-role airplanes and modern helicopters. He pointed out that he met with 12 world leaders during the visit to China, including President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
