On Sept. 9, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic thanked his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the warm welcome he met in Beijing and on China’s continual support to Serbia, stressing that the two countries share an ‘ironclad friendship.’

“We view China as a genuine and reliable partner, while President Xi has stood with us during the most trying of times – be they economic, health-related or political,” Vucic posted on Instagram following a meeting with Xi in Beijing.

“Serbia cannot and will not ever forget this [fact],” Vucic stated.

According to the Serbian president, Serbia’s trade volume has never been greater – owing to Xi’s initiatives and the two countries’ Free Trade Agreement.

Xi also dubbed the Chinese-Serbian friendship “ironclad” and stated China supports Serbia’s efforts to protect its national unity, state interests and social stability, and added that China is interested in “working together to further relations.”
