Students protest (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
An overwhelming majority of professors supports the protesting university students and the demands put forth during the ongoing ten months of blockades and rallies. What many professors do not agree with, however, is the manner in which the students have chosen to fight, Srdjan Roncevic, the dean of Novi Sad University’s School of Mathematics, said on Sept. 11.
In an interview for the latest edition of the Vreme weekly, Roncevic explained that those professors are asking the students “to change their tactics,” insisting that solutions should be sought through intra-University dialogue.
“The good thing is that more and more students are returning to school and taking part in plenums. I believe better decisions will be reached this way. And I believe it will contribute to better communication between the students and faculty,” the dean opined.
Roncevic concluded by counseling the students to seek solutions peacefully.
