Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has again said that he believes that the problem with the customs tariffs the U.S. has introduced against Serbia could be solved, the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Sept. 17.

At the end of a visit to Tokyo, Vucic said U.S. State Secretary Marco Rubio had asked to meet with him during his upcoming visit to New York, where he is to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

Asked by a reporter if his stay in New York would be an opportunity to discuss the tariff problem with representatives of the U.S. administration, Vucic said he had received "a message that Rubio asked to meet, so there's an opportunity to discuss it." He went on to say that he would also try to talk with U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, because the sanctions "are now becoming important to us."
