The blockading students of the University of Kragujevac have announced that early on Sept. 25 police entered the institution’s Rectorate building at the behest of rector Vladimir Rankovic.

According to the Glas Sumadije news site, the students have accused the rector of thereby violating the University’s autonomy.

The police officers soon left the building and the gathered public withdrew from main doors to allow employees entry.

Prior to that, officers IDed the members of the public who kept watch in front of the building following a Sept. 24 rally in support of the student protest.

The students, who have been blockading the Rectorate building since December, spent the night on site following a violent attempt to end the blockade on Sept. 24, when the rector tried to enter the building with security personnel after cutting the chains binding the front doors.
