A new contingent of Hungarian police units has been dispatched to Bulgaria and Serbia to provide support in securing the European Union's outward borders by curbing illegal migration, it was announced on the website of the Hungarian police force.
In the spirit of European solidarity, the Hungarian officers will be assisting their Bulgarian and Serbian counterparts in curbing illegal migration along the Western Balkan route, which still poses a serious challenge for the countries of the region, the statement read.
The mission aims to contribute to strengthening the security of Hungary and the EU, and requires a high degree of responsibility, dedication and professional readiness, the statement noted.
