The Independent Union of Education Workers of Serbia called on Nov. 6 "on public and political actors" to accept and support the demands of Dijana Hrka who is on a hunger strike in downtown Belgrade, and on the relevant institutions to meet them.
A statement said that "all well meaning citizens can and should stand behind the demands that those responsible for the canopy collapse be questioned and prosecuted according to the law." The Union added that her demands that "the victims of state repression be freed and that free, fair and democratic elections be scheduled as a way out of the deep crisis in society" needed to be met.
"As a sign of support for Dijana Hrka's demands, members of the Independent Union of Education Workers' presidency will spend the night between Nov. 6 an Nov. 7 with her at Serbian parliament," they said.
