The Novi Sad activists of the Movement of Free Citizens and the students’ organization STAV declared their support on Nov. 13, after having spent seven months in custody, to all who are still in jail and declared solidarity with Dijana Hrka and the family of Milomir Jacimovic.

In a circular letter, the “Novi Sad six” thanked all who supported them while they were in jail. The letter was signed by Marija Vasic, Lazar Dinic, Lado Jovovic, Mladen Cvijetic, Srdjan Djuric and Davor Stefanovic, and is addressed to all the participants in the struggle, with an assessment that, in the meantime, repression had grown worse and dictatorship stronger.

The activists stressed that jail was an immense experience that had made them stronger and thanked all who fought for their freedom – either by protesting in front of the detention unit at Klisa or by sleeping in front of the court for weeks, demanding that it upheld the law. They believe they are obligated to fight for justice and freedom for all who, as they stated, have been targeted by the regime. “Just like others fought for us, we are obligated to win freedom and justice for them and all other victims and targets of this inhumane regime,” the activists stated.

“What is ahead is the trial on Nov. 24. We hope for the most logical outcome – suspension of proceedings and an acquittal, because even in our country, occupied by the Serbian Progressive Party’s cartel, truth and justice must find the way,” they stated, warning that repression had become stronger and that this showed “that the Progressives’ regime is nervous.”
