Serbian FM, US Deputy Secretary of State Discuss Strategic Partnership

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric and US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau have discussed ways to develop bilateral strategic cooperation, in Washington. 

Djuric said that Serbia was attaching special importance to “the development of strategic partnership and overall relations with the USA, one of Serbia’s key foreign partners.”

The Serbian minister, who is on a three-day visit to the USA, also said that face-to-face meetings with high-ranking American officials were important for maintaining regular and meaningful exchange of views. 

The meeting also discussed energy security of Serbia, the issues relating to operation of oil and gas company Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS), as well as the current situation in Serbia’s energy sector, according to a release.   

Djuric’s first meeting during his visit to the US was with Keith Self, a member of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Foreign Affairs, discussing the issues considered important for enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
