Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said he will not attend the Dec. 17 EU-Western Balkans summit called by European Council president Antonio Costa.
“For the first time in 13 or 14 years, I won’t attend. No one will represent the Republic of Serbia. I’ve decided that the [Serbian] government will not allow any kind of pressure,” Vucic told the RTS public broadcaster late on Dec. 16.
He added that he has spoken to most European leaders and is grateful for the respect Serbia has received.
“In the past 24 hours, I’ve spoken with the majority of European leaders. I’m endlessly grateful for the respect Serbia has been shown by [European Commission head] Ursula von der Leyen and Antonio Costa. I’m also grateful to [French] President [Emmanuel] Macron,” Vucic stated.
