Once the current regime is removed, the new cabinet’s first sitting will be focused on submitting a draft law instituting a special prosecutor for public official corruption and an origin of property bill, and will disband the Security and Information Agency, Dragan Djilas, the leader of the oppositional Freedom and Justice Party, said on Jan. 12.

According to a statement issued by his party, Djilas specified that both a new intelligence agency and new public broadcasting agency will be formed.

The mentioned bill regarding a special prosecutor for public official corruption, who will command his or her own prosecutorial police force, was drafted back in 2019 based on the Romanian model, Djilas added.

“That same year, we also proposed an Origin of Property Bill which envisages the seizure of property from those who cannot prove its [legal] origins as well as fines. Of course, in cases where the courts determine theft, the property will be seized and the culprits will end up in prison,” said Djilas.
