The Academic Plenum university network assessed on Feb. 12 that the newly appointed director of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation (RTS), Manja Grcic, was “unworthy” of that function because, while she headed the Tanjug news agency, certain journalists of that media were fired as surplus “for supporting students on social media.”

The Academic Plenum assessed that Grcic had been appointed to the position of RTS director “in order to establish full censorship, by orders of the authorities, and complete the purge of RTS that was initiated by the previous director of this public broadcasting service.”

On Feb. 11, the Managing Board of RTS decided to appoint Manja Grcic director of this public media service, with a five-year mandate. According to a statement on the web-site of RTS, Grcic is a journalist with years of experience in leading positions in several media houses. Her appointment marks the completion of the public contest for the position, which was announced on Dec. 17, 2025.

Manja Grcic is the co-owner and director of the Minacord Media company, which owns the K1, Kazbuka and TV Doktor television stations and the Tanjug media platform, of which she is also the general director. She used to be the director of the Prva and B92 television stations.
