During an extraordinary morning sitting on March 9, the Serbian Cabinet passed the decision to ban the export of crude oil and all oil derivative motor fuels.

“The ban pertains to the export of diesel, gasoline and crude oil via any means of transport until March 19, when we will decide further. The essence of the ban is the protection of the domestic market from shortages and price hikes caused by global disruptions on the world market,” Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said in a press release.

She went on to state that Serbia is a country “whose citizens buy oil derivatives at below their real market price,” and added that the state is doing “everything to protect its citizens and economy.”
