In February, the Independent Journalists’ Association of Serbia (NUNS) recorded 32 incidents against journalists and media workers, including eight physical attacks on journalists, the Association said in a release on March 10.
Also recorded were eight cases of threats against the life and physical safety of journalists and seven other threats to journalists, as well as three threats to media outlets and eight attacks on media outlets and organizations, according to NUNS.
Throughout the month, media campaigns continued, further endangering the safety of journalists and media professionals, as well as attacks on journalists while reporting from public events and protests.
NUNS also pointed to organized campaigns aimed at discrediting journalists and media professionals, particularly in the wake of the Centre for Social Stability’s broadcast, titled Evil Age 2, which publically targeted certain journalists. The association further underlined that journalists had also been publically accused and targeted by certain public officials.
