Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was one of the 135 cosponsors of the Resolution condemning Iran’s attack on the Middle East countries, submitted to the United Nations Security Council (UN) by Jordan and thr Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member nations.

GCC comprises six Arab nations: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman. The Resolution was adopted on March 11, with 13 countries, out of 15 members of the Security Countries, backing the document, while Russia and China abstained from voting.

Sarajevo portal Istraga.ba has reported that the decision to cosponsor the resolution was made by Zlatko Lagumdzija, BiH’s representative in the UN. The BiH Presidency did not get to consider the matter, as its session had had been scheduled for the following day. Zeljka Cvijanovic, the Serbian member of the Presidency, has called on the BiH Presidency to urgently declare its stand on BiH’s cosponsoring the Resolution.

“These unjustified and unprovoked attacks (by Iran) represent a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the targeted states, and a clear violation of the basic rules and principles of international law and the UN Charter,” it is said in the letter previously sent to all UN member states by representatives of the Gulf countries and Jordan. The memo says that the Gulf countries are exposed to constant missile and drone attacks by Iran, unselectively targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
