March 23 marks the first day Serbs living and/or working in Kosovo and Metohija can apply for local-issued documents, the RTS public broadcaster has reported.
According to the RTS, healthcare and public education employees as well as university students not living in Kosovo can submit their information through their institutions of work or study.
Serbs living in Kosovo without Pristina-issued documents can receive Kosovo equivalents based on their Serbian ones (ID cards and birth, marriage or death certificates).
The forced change in documentation has caused local Serbs to fear Pristina could use its newly-implemented laws to evict from Kosovo anyone refusing to accept new documents by declaring them foreigners or demanding they periodically apply for work or residence permits.
