The Freedom and Justice Party on March 24 said that it had registered a total of 1,102 changes made to the electoral roll since February in ten places, where local elections would be held on March 29, relating to mysterious changes of residential address.

“In Knjazevac alone, 286 such changes have been registered,” according to Ana Godjevac, deputy leader of the party Belgrade chapter. Godjevac, who is also a member of the Commission for Electoral Roll Revision, also said that Public Administration and Local Self-Government Ministry had been requested to provide an explanation, but that their response was reduced to avoiding responsibility and transferring competence to another body.

“We therefore lodged a complaint, because we demand a clear and concrete explanation - who are those who registered there and on what ground these changes were made,” Godjevac said.

She further said that the Commission members had requested meetings with representatives of local self-governments, adding they would also tour all ten local self-governments where elections would be held on March 29. “We will not make any speculations - we know about this regime’s strategies of election rigging - phantom voters, fake residential addresses, and blackmail and abuse of institutions. And that is why we are going to the field to make them work according to the law. Anyone involved in election rigging should know that they will be held accountable,” Godjevac stressed.
