Djuro Macut (BETAPHOTO/MILOS MISKOV)
The Serbia Center party announced on April 2 that it was scandalous that Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut was hiding, while ministers were upsetting the public and inflicting damages that would be difficult to fix to the Belgrade University on whose payroll he also was.
It stressed that Macut was a regular professor at the Belgrade University School of Medicine, a school that had participated in the blockade, recalling that one of the most important platforms in his inaugural speech had been normalizing classes at universities.
"Macut also didn't react when Minister [of Education] Dejan Vuk Stankovic announced that he was going to 'discipline' state universities, including the Belgrade University, using an entire arsenal of unbecoming threats to professors and the academic community, whose hard work has placed this Serbian institution among the top two percent of universities in the world," the party said. It called on Macut to immediately say who was leading the cabinet and what his cabinet's policy was toward higher education institutions.
