European Union High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on May 11 that frequent elections in Kosovo are the main reason why there has been no new round of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue at the most senior level.
According to Radio Free Europe, Kalals confirmed to reporters that both Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo Premier Albin Kurti were ready to meet as part of the dialogue, but that the calling of another snap election in Kosovo delayed the process again.
"We had it actually planned -- the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, high-level political dialogue. I had agreement from both leaders from Kosovo as well as Serbia, but now we have elections in Kosovo coming up again, which is of course pushing this forward. But I'm working separately with both of them so that we can move on with the implementation of the agreements that are already in place," Kallas said.
The leaders of Serbia and Kosovo last met as part of the dialogue in September 2023.
