Darko Glisic, Serbian minister for public investments and chairman of the Serbian Progressive Party Steering Committee, said on May 13 that the "blockaders" -- the student protest movement and its supporters -- will not beat the government at an upcoming election, but rather will defeat the members of the opposition now sitting in the Serbian parliament.

Glisic told Pink TV that the opposition now in the parliament was an "illegitimate minority." "The blockader opposition will chase them out. Other people are going to take their places -- even worse people, I'm convinced," Glisic said.

He also said the Serbian Progressive Party is always ready for elections. "In the 18 years I've been in the [Progressive party] we've been preparing for elections as if they were every week. That's what responsible and well-run parties do," Glisic said.
