Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated in a post on Instagram on May 20, after receiving Ambassador of China to Serbia Li Ming, that his forthcoming visit to China would “without any doubt be the most important visit” of his political career.

Vucic emphasized that it was very important for Serbia to build strong partnerships with friendly countries that respect its independence, development and the right to its own path in times of deep global changes, when the world is facing economic pressure, security challenges and increasing uncertainty.

Vucic stated that he was endlessly grateful for the “immense honor and privilege” of once again being a guest of President of China Xi Jinping, and for everything the Chinese president had done for Serbia and its people.

“I emphasized that support and friendship he expressed toward our country remained a permanent testimony of the ironclad links between Serbia and China, as well as of the deep mutual trust that is interwoven with our people’s respect of the great Chinese nation, which will remain a powerful foundation for the coming generations,” Vucic stated, reiterating that everything that China and Serbia had built together – from infrastructural and industrial projects to political understanding and support in most important moments – “represents the proof of true friendship that has passed the test of time and of great global challenges.”

Vucic stated further that he and Ambassador Li discussed the meetings he would have during the stay in China and the visits to industrial and economic giants, which is “immeasurably important” for Serbia. This is, as he said, important for Serbia bearing in mind that “China is nowadays a model of a powerful and stable economy, as well as an example of a principled state, with a consistent stance, wise policy and immense international reputation, investing all that into efforts aimed at reaching peace, stability and cooperation in the world, which mankind needs now more than ever.”
