A senior official of the Serbia Center opposition party, Petar Boskovic, said on June 15 that the attack on several students and a professor of Berlin's Humboldt University that happened in Pionirski Park in Belgrade on June 14 confirmed that the camp set up at that location, the so-called "Caciland," "is a serious security issue for the citizens of Belgrade and for guests of the city."

According to media reports, a group of students and a professor from Berlin were assaulted by some of the individuals who are staying in the park by the authorities' orders. Before the attack, the guests from Berlin tried to take photographs of the National Assembly building across the street from the park.

Boskovic, who is also an MP, said in the statement that the situation concerning that encampment in downtown Belgrade is no longer under the authorities' control.

"Caciland is no longer just an aesthetic eyesore tarnishing the city center, it has become a security issue of the first order and a hotbed of criminal activity which directly endangers the lives of citizens and Serbia's reputation in the world," said Boskovic.

He asked Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic whether the incident "is an image of the leap into the future with which he plans to welcome, as he announced, millions of visitors of the Expo exhibition in 2027."
