Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on June 18 that the memorandum signed by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian "is the first step toward establishing peace."

Touring a bridge being built over the Danube at Novi Sad, Vucic told journalists that he congratulates Trump and Pezeshkian.

Vucic said that the U.S. and Iran are two large and powerful countries and that he believes a lasting peace will be established. As the first consequence of the signing of the memorandum Vucic pointed to the drop in the price of Brent Oil, which he said is important for Serbia.

Asked about the situation in Ukraine, Vucic said that he believes the situation in relations between Moscow and Kyiv to be extremely difficult. "I am afraid that all of this is not going in a good direction," he added.
