The regime did not schedule an assembly sitting to discuss a motion of no confidence in the incumbent cabinet in February, when the opposition requested, but only now, as it is convenient time to launch an election campaign, Danijela Nestorovic, an MP of the opposition party Ecological Uprising, said on July 28.
“So, they did not do it at the time when all legal prerequisites were fulfilled for holding this session. This is probably one of the sittings which (Serbian President) Aleksandar Vucic uses to actually start his election campaign,” Nestorovic told N1 TV.
According to her, it is clear to everyone that elections are nearing and that this sitting debating a motion of no confidence in the incumbent cabinet is actually “a display of power by the regime.”
“This is yet another attempt to show that everything is fine in Serbia, that this cabinet is totally fine, that they have been discharging their jobs correctly, and that actually there are no obstacles for them to continue clinging to power. So, this is a display of power by them,” Nestorovic said.
