Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in Belgrade on Aug. 8 that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who visited Serbia, did not discuss any type of military cooperation, adding that "what happens when the war is over is a different matter."
"I hope the killing will stop," Vucic said at Serbia Palace replying to a reporter's question during a joint news conference with Zelenskyy. Vucic said that he hopes that the war in Ukraine "will end tomorrow," but that he "can't see a way for that to happen," and apologized, for, as he said, having to be so candid.
"If you ask me as a political veteran, I'm rather afraid we will have a hard winter - mostly your people, but others across the world too," he said.
Vucic said he wished Ukraine luck in its bid to join the European Union. He said Ukraine will have Serbia's full support on the European path, and that Serbia does not make comments designed to stop anyone because it cannot open certain clusters. Speaking about reported plans for Serbia and Ukraine to open a drone factory, Vucic said Serbia will be opening a drone factory in September in cooperation with Israel.
