The Serbian Assembly, at its extraordinary session on Aug. 24, started a debate on the bill amending the 2026 Budget Law, which is the first out of 59 items on the agenda.
Earlier, the Serbian Government adopted the draft budget revision, increasing spending by RSD112.45 billion to RSD2,527.15 billion. Tax revenues are planned at RSD2,108.3 billion and the income collected from sources other than compulsory taxes at RSD382.9 billion. These changes, according to a release, will enable state aid program for citizens, while allowing the country to continue investing in capital projects
The revised budget relies on projected economic growth of 3.3 percent, while the inflation is projected to have a downward trend to 3.4 percent.
The updated fiscal projections envisage central government debt at 43.8 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) and the general government debt at 44.2 percent of GDP.
