Kosovo's acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said Serbian institutions had blocked more than EUR 2.14 million allocated by the Kosovo government for projects benefiting Albanians in Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja.
Kurti met in Pristina with representatives of non-governmental organizations, the media, culture and education sectors, arts and sports societies, as well as students from Bujanovac, Presevo, Medvedja and Novi Pazar. The meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi, MP Shaip Kamberi and Presevo Mayor Ardita Sinani, the Bujanovacke news portal reported.
Kurti said the money was intended for projects in education, culture, the arts, sports and the media, the use of the Albanian language and national symbols, as well as support for children with special needs and 61 families of students who had lost one or both parents, free textbooks, internships and the work of the Albanian National Council. "The funds must be released and transferred to the Albanian National Council’s account," Kurti said.
