On Sept. 1, the blockading students of the universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis will stage local memorials to mark the 22-month anniversary of the Novi Sad Central Railway Station canopy collapse, which killed 16 and left one person with life-changing injuries.

The Belgrade rally will commence at the Sava Square at 7 p.m., with blockading students addressing the gathering followed by a march through Kneza Milosa St. to the Belgrade Center Railway Station (a.k.a. Prokop), where the victims will be commemorated with 16 minutes of silence.

In Novi Sad, local citizens’ assemblies and the blockading students of Novi Sad U will first offer 16 minutes of silence to the dead at the site of the accident at 11:52 a.m. – the exact time the canopy collapsed – after which a rally is planned in front of the Naftna Industrija Srbije building at 7:45 p.m. From there, the gathering will march to the still-closed Central Railway Station.

Nis will honor the victims of the accident with 16 minutes of silence in front of the city’s Basic Court at 11:52 a.m.
