The funeral procession for Ratko Mladic, the wartime commander of the Republika Srpska Army convicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), from the St. Luke the Evangelist Church in the Kosutnjak forest to Topcider Cemetery in Belgrade, was attended by 16,000 people, according to Public Assembly Archive.
“The estimate is based on counting people in video footage recorded from 11 am to 2 pm at a fixed point along the route,” Public Assembly Archive posted on social media X on Sept. 8.
Mladic was buried with military honors at Topcider Cemetery on Sept. 7. Also present were several Serbian Cabinet ministers.
Mladic died on Aug. 27 in The Hague, while serving a life sentence for genocide and other war crimes committed during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
