In a Sept. 9 Instagram post, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced that he had “an excellent conversation” with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, regarding furthering their two countries’ strategic partnership, Serbia’s European path, as well as the economy, investments and important joint projects.
Following their meeting at the Elysee Palace, Vucic, who is visiting Paris to participate in the 2026 International Space Summit, wrote the post, thanking Macron for his “strong support to Serbia and personal involvement in furthering bilateral relations.”
“We also spoke about possibilities for strengthening ties in the areas of modern technology and innovation, which are becoming increasingly important for the development and competitiveness of our economies. The trust we’ve built remains a solid foundation for everything Serbia and France can achieve together in the years to come,” Vucic said.
Captioning a short video of the two presidents shaking hands and embracing, Vucic wrote that last night’s “long conversation” had a particular weight for him personally because it marked the last time they would meet as presidents.
“Over the years, we’ve become friends, built trust and done a lot together for the relationship between Serbia and France,” the post reads.
Addressing the journalists from Serbia who have been following him in Paris, Vucic said in the early hours of Sept. 10 that, at the dinner Macron hosted for the participants of the summit, he had an opportunity to speak with the prime ministers of Luxembourg, Bulgaria, Georgia and Armenia: Luc Frieden, Rumen Radev, Irakli Kobakhidze and Nikol Pashinyan, respectively.
