Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will be travelling to New York on Sept. 21 to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
Vucic has said that he will again take the opportunity to tell the Assembly about the position of the country, “protecting Serbia’s interests” and holding a series of bilateral meetings.
“I’m going [there] to protect Serbia’s interests. Every time [I attended the Assembly] I attempted to explain the position of our country, which is on a European path but which also, based on a variety of parameters, belongs to the global South and [as such] is close to African and Asian countries,” Vucic told Radio Belgrade.
The president said he will do everything to protect the peace and stability of Serbia’s people “in these crazy times we’re living through.”
Vucic added that he expects to have numerous meetings on the margins of the U.N. General Assembly, from an audience with U.S. President Donald Trump to an expected sit-down with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, with whom he plans to discuss the Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) oil and gas company.ernoj Americi.
