Official: Vucic Once Again Defends Serbian State and National Interests in U.N.

Serbian government Office for Kosovo and Metohija chief Petar Petkovic said on Sept. 24 that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic firmly defended Serbian state and national interests in "another courageous and historical speech" at the U.N. in New York.

Petkovic said in a statement that Vucic "confirmed once more that he is a true statesman who does not answer to anyone except the citizens of his country." "Serbia is home to a small but proud people who precisely deserve a leader like Aleksandar Vucic," Petkovic said, adding that as long as Vucic is running the country, Serbia can count on its "freedom-loving voice to be heard and respected in the world."

Petkovic also said that it is important that Vucic explained to the international public that "the systemic undermining of the U.N. system and order based on international law began in the skies above our country." He added that the "evils that were illegally visited on Serbia" were "an announcement and hint of the instability that the entire world feels directly or indirectly today."

Petkovic criticized the government's political opponents saying that their "only plan and program for political action is violence, threats of raping women and retaliation against people with different political views than them," and that they have no stance on relations and Kosovo and Metohija.
