Belgrade University professor Jovo Bakic, a candidate of the Student Ticket in early parliamentary elections, has said that he does not expect incidents on election day because "it is not easy to organize criminals everywhere."

"They could focus on Belgrade or Novi Sad, since the Progressives are expected to be decisively defeated there. Maybe they will try to do something. In any event, we will be ready," Bakic told the Vreme weekly in an interview.

"If what we expect happens, and that is a convincing victory in Novi Sad, Belgrade, Kragujevac and Nis, I do no think that any rigging by the regime will be enough," Bakic said, adding that it would be a pleasant surprise for the regime to admit defeat.

"Knowing the nature of this regime and especially its proclivity toward systemically lying about everything and anything, they can be expected to lie there too," Bakic said, adding that Student Ticket can be expected to produce an operative government which will be able to restore basic order in a very short time, meaning a year and a half.
