The ruling Serbian Progressive Party is using violence as a modus operandi because since the emergence of the Student Ticket it has had no adequate response to the mobilization of citizens and the appearance of new forces, attorney and former police minister in the first democratic government after 2000, Bozo Prelevic, said on Oct. 2.
"First they chose for a while to insult the participants on the Student Ticket - the Students Will Win, to write disgusting slogans all over the city, then running people over on pedestrian crossings, and so on. They have no answer other than violence," Prelevic told the Nova daily.
He added that in this way the Progressives put a strain on relations between citizens, divide them and generate hatred, with the goal being "to scare the students and citizens."
"All the citizens who stay at home on election day will have chosen worse rather than better. Staying at home means to side with evil. The more aggressive they are toward us, the less patience we have and fewer reasons to stay at home on Oct. 25. It is slowly becoming clear that we have now entered the very finale," Prelevic said.
