Serbia's protesting students called on Oct. 15 on Novi Sad on citizens to ignore the ruling Serbian Progressive Party's announced rally in Trg Slobode square in Novi Sad on Oct. 16.
"No reactions, no gatherings, no paying any significance. Sometimes the biggest message is precisely the one that we decide not to send," Novi Sad's protesting students wrote on social networks.
They stressed that all of the energy needed to be channeled "into the only important thing - as many circled threes as possible on Oct. 25." Community councils previously announced that they intended to "send a message to the mafia" on Oct. 16 and that more details would be revealed soon, but did not say anything later.
Preparations for the Aleksandar Vucic - United Serbia ticket's rally in Trg Slobode square began on Oct. 14 - benches and candelabra with flowers have been removed. The square has been completely fenced in, bleachers have been erected and mobile toilets placed in surrounding streets, while all of the equipment is being secured by police and private security. The Serbian Progressive Party announced rallies in Novi Sad on several occasions, none of which were held.
