Ana Brnabic (BETAPHOTO/National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia/Milos Miskov)
Ana Brnabic, the speaker of the Serbian National Assembly and acting president of Serbia, said on Oct. 30 that a presidential vote will be called by Dec. 27, in accordance with the Constitution, or, if the new institutions are formed speedily, someone else will take over as acting president.
"The speedy formation of institutions is paramount at this time in order for those who won the elections to assume responsibility for how people are living in this country, so that, if the harassment of citizens and terror against citizens and not following the law and Constitution continue, we all know who is responsible for it," Brnabic said at a news conference in the Presidency seat in Belgrade.
She said the new government should follow the Constitution and form governmental bodies as soon as possible and then relieve individuals of their duties according to the law. "Assume responsibility. Those who won the elections should now assume responsibility. That is the least this state deserves. No one has the right to terrorize and harass people in this country," Brnabic said.
