Negotiations between Russia and Serbia on a new gas arrangement will again be a topic once a new government in Belgrade has been formed, Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said in Moscow.
"As for the announcements by the Student List about negotiations with Russia on a gas contract, I believe we should reconsider that topic after the forming of the governing bodies of Serbia and after they have submitted the relevant official requests," Zakharova told a news conference.
Previously, representatives of the Student List, which won the absolute majority of votes in the Oct. 25 general election, said they want a long-term agreement on Russian gas deliveries, to ensure secure supply of the fuel.
The current contract on Russian gas deliveries to Serbia expires on Dec. 31, after Russia on Sept. 30 extended the gas arrangement under the same, favorable conditions by three months.
