NATO military exercises (BETAPHOTO/NORTH MACEDONIA GOVERNMENT/MO)
North Macedonia is an esteemed member of NATO, considering the overall contribution it has given so far, the Alliance’s assistant secretary general for defense policy and planning, Angus Lapsley, said in Skopje.
According to the April 25 statement of the government in Skopje, Lapsley said this during a meeting with North Macedonia’s Prime Minister Talat Xhaferi, when the two delegations affirmed the support the member countries, including North Macedonia, provide to Ukraine. “The Alliance is united and more powerful than ever before in history and, with the membership of Finland and Sweden, NATO became the guarantor of security for more than one billion citizens of the democratic world,” the statement reads.
By participating in collective security within the Alliance’s forces in Romania, Bulgaria and Latvia, in the NATO mission in Kosovo (KFOR) and in the EU operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ALTHEA), North Macedonia has additionally positioned itself as one of the pillars of regional stability, it was declared in the statement.
