Nis Mayor Dragoslav Pavlovic has announced that two EU companies – Italy’s Ariston Group and Austrian Palfinger AG – will be opening factories in his city on Dec. 11.
The Ariston plant will produce water heaters and employ 300 people. The investment, worth EUR75 million, was subsidized EUR22 million by the Serbian government.
Meanwhile, Austria’s Palfinger, which produces loader cranes, will offer 375 job opportunities and has pledged to invest EUR35.5 million in its Nis plant, while the Serbian state will provide the venture with a EUR4.6-million subsidy.
The average salary in Nis is about EUR900.
