The Serbian Mining and Energy Ministry has published a tender for development of spatial planning and part of technical documentation for the project Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant Djerdap 3 (PSHP Djerdap 3), on the Danube. The estimated value of the procurement is RSD625 million, or around EUR5.3 million.
PSHP Djerdap 3 is envisaged as a complex pumped-storage hydropower system, with a capacity of between 1,200 and 2,400 MW. The plant will be developed in a wider region of the Iron Gate, some 65 kilometers upstream of Hydropower Plant Djerdap 1. Bids must contain analysis of impact on the water regime, navigation, the operation of the existing HPPs Djerdap 1 and Djerdap 2, and the terms of cooperation with the Romanian side.
The project will be developed in an area of extremely important natural, cultural and environmental values, including the Djerdap National Park, meaning that part of the documentation will also focus on aligning technical solutions with environmental protection requirements and the preservation of natural values.
Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said that six companies have submitted a letter of interest for the project PSHP Djerdap 3. Recently, Serbia and Romania agreed facilitated exchange of information regarding the project, valued at EUR 2.6 billion.
