Oil and gas company NIS (BETAPHOTO/EMIL VAS)
Serbia's Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) said in a press release on Oct. 24 that it has sent the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control a new request for a special license to allow the Serbian oil company to continue its operations without impediment after its current operating license expires on Oct. 30.
The press release, which was posted on the company's website, reads that the request stresses the company's importance in ensuring continued supply of the domestic market, and emphasizes that the uninterrupted operation of the Pancevo oil refinery is key to maintaining Serbia's energy stability.
"The NIS company thanks all domestic and foreign institutions that support the efforts to allow the company to conduct its business unimpeded," the press release adds.
