Protest in Belgrade on March 15 (BETAPHOTO/MILAN ILIC)

The protest that took place in Belgrade on March 15, at the call of the rebelling students, was the biggest gathering in the history of Serbia and will also be remembered by an attack with a sonic weapon on peaceful demonstrators. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic fared better than many demonstrators were hoping, but he is likely far from satisfied – his intention of causing chaos (which he apparently had) failed, after students outsmarted him. Nevertheless, students are also facing criticism by numerous citizens, disappointed by the fact that no specific step was made at the protest that would expose Vucic to additional pressure or even force him to step down from his position.
