The 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks at the hands of Serb forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina in July 1995 will be marked at the Potocari Memorial Center in Srebrenica on July 11.

The mortal remains of seven more Srebrenica victims discovered at different locations will be buried in Potocari. The youngest of them are two 19 year olds. The leaders of numerous countries have announced that they will visit Srebrenica on July 11 while the Sarajevo media has claimed that up to 150,000 people could attended the commemoration in Potocari.

The event will be secured by members of the Republika Srpska Interior Ministry in association with Bosnia's security agencies. The U.N. General Assembly adopted a resolution in May last year declaring July 11th an international day of reflection and commemoration. The resolution condemns the genocide and glorification of war criminals. At least ten countries, eight in Europe along with Australia and Canada, have announced that they will officially mark the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide in July.

A traditional Peace March to pay tribute to the Srebrenica victims is being held this year as well. Several thousand people embarked on July 8 from Nezuk on a three-day Peace March to Potocari. The distance between Potocari and Nezuk is 100 kilometers. In July 1995 Bosniaks tried to reach free territory by going in the opposite direction after Serb forces captured Srebrenica. After entering Srebrenica, a U.N. safe zone, forces led by RS Army commander Ratko Mladic killed over 8,000 people mostly men and boys.
