A Rising Political Star
Dritan Abazovic (35) is kind of the political star of legislative elections held in Montenegro on Aug. 30 in which the Milo Djukanovic-led Democratic Party of Socialists lost power for the first time.
Abazovic, a young politician and ethnic Albanian, led the In Black and White coalition in the 2020 election to win four seats in parliament and is in the position now to decisively influence the makeup of the new government. Despite pressure and offers from the Democratic Party of Socialists, the coalition is against Djukanovic and will continue to be so in accordance with its promises to support the hitherto opposition.
